William Teale is Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Author of numerous publications, his work has focused on children’s literature, early literacy learning, and the intersection of technology and literacy education. Dr. Teale has served as consultant to schools and libraries across the country; with organizations such as Children’s Television Workshop, RIF, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and Reach Out and Read; and on productions like Between the Lions and Sesame Street. A member of the Reading Hall of Fame and the Board of Directors of the International Reading Association, his current focal research involvement is with the UIC-Early Reading First projectswhich involve developing model preschool literacy curricula for three- and four-year-old children in urban, low-income Chicago schools (http://www.uic.edu/educ/erf/).
