    Re:Songs for kindergarten?, USA

I think that is such a cute idea that you use for teaching letter A. I am also a Kindergarten teacher and I love to use songs also. Songs are motivating and help children to remember what they learn. Here are some songs that I use. Even though you may have already used them I thought I would share anyways. The first song uses the melody of Mary Had A Little Lamb This song spells because b-e-c-a-u-s-e u-s-e u-s-e b-e-c-a-u-s-e because because because The next song I got from the I Teach K workshop last summer in Florida. Row your boat Rhythm Sail, Sail, Sail your boat All around the world Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Artic The oceans of the world. The next song I made up to help children spell the word 'how' since they often confuse it with the word who. It uses the same melody once again to Row Your Boat. It may be cheesy but here it is: How How How are you? How do you spell how H-O-W H-O-W That is how to spell how. Please contact me at iluvk@epals.com

Hi, I am a Kindergarten teacher in Florida, USA. I would be glad to help in anyway. I have been to Morocco twice and loved it. I was hoping one day to teach in Morocco. I am Montessori trained and thought it would be great also to have a Montessori school in Morocco. Of course one needs a lot of money for this project. I work at www.thefoundationacademy.com I would love to exchange kindergarten art work with your students. Let me know what you think. I will be emailing you some songs very soon. Thanks, Rachelle

Hello Kindergarten teacher, Kindergarten teachers have such fun while they teach! If you have no access to or funds with which to purchase tapes or CD's, write your own songs! Please hear me out as it is very easy to do. Take the melody of a song that you know and add new words. For example: Here in New Jersey, USA a very popular children's song is call "The Wheels On The Bus." I changed the title to "We Are Learning Our ABC's." It went like this... We are learning our ABC's, ABC's, ABC's. We are learning our ABC's each and every day. The "A" in the alphabet says aah, aah, ahh aah, aah, ahh aah, aah, aah The "A" in the alphabet says aah, aah, aah We find the aah in aah-pple (apple.) That is how I taught my students the sounds that the letters make. Just change the sounds and a word that makes that beginning sound! Use the same song for the entire alphabet. I hope that this idea helps you out. If you have any questions, feel free to write to me at smilekids@epals.com Have fun! Beth

    Re:Songs for kindergarten?, USA

Hi, I teach kindergarten in the USA, and am early childhood trained in Australia. I was a preschool teacher and college lecturer in Australia before coming to the USA. I rely heavily on CDs and tapes. The children love songs that incorporate movement. My cherubs recently learned short and long vowels recently using a CD from Australia. They also learn the days of the week in English and Spanish, the months of the year, counting, etc. Have some fun with songs and if you are terrible at singing like I am tapes and CDs are a godsend.
