Just wondering if you are still looking for ePals for the school year. I have 130 total 7th grade students in my  English classes. [ages 12-14] I am new to ePals but would love to collaborate with other students.

Please let me know if you are interested.

    Re: ePals wanted: Puerto Rico

I will be working with a Spanish speaker ESL college freshmen class on August at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and would like to work with you. My students' age will range from 16-18. I would like my students to exchange ideas on dialy routines, new, music, movies, art, culture, within others. I, as their facilitator, will monitor their writing project.

Mis estudiantes hablan espanol, ya que es su primer idioma. Me gustaria que el intercambio les ayudara a mejorar sus destrezas de escritura del ingles y a la misma vez ayuden a otros con el espanol. Gracias.

I think you idea of emailing in Spanish and answering in English is great.

    Re: ePals wanted: Puerto Rico

    Dear Liz,

I am responding to your response.  I am seeking opportunities for my students to have authentic conversations with other students from different regions of the world. I would like to begin our exchanges soon after school starts. I am also interested in the "The Way We Are" project.  My students are members of my English I class and range in age from 14-18 years old. Most of them were born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and have not ventured out of the region. Our city's evacuations during hurricane season have been the only 'road trips' that many of my students have ever taken.  I want my students to communicate with other classes and discover and discuss similarities and differences in their daily lives, cultures, climates and geography. I am interested in communicating monthly via e-mail and perhaps postal mail and blogging with students around the world.

    Do you have a match?

    Thanks,

    Valerie

    Re: ePals wanted: Puerto Rico

    Hola, Liz,

I'm a Spanish teacher in midwestern Illinois, USA.  I have a class of 17 students, aged 16-17.  They are in an advanced class where Spanish only is spoken, so they are more or less fluent.  We would like to establish an e-mail classroom to exchange information about our towns, culture, etc.  My students would be willing to help with English and we would like help with our Spanish.  I'd like eventually to be able to exchange some videos, some story books, etc.  We are really interested in getting in touch and using the language.  If this sounds like someithing your class would enjoy, let me know.  We are anxious to get started.

P.S.  We would e-mail in Spanish and would be glad to answer in either English or Spanish.

    Sincerely,  Cleta TerHark

    Liz,

Were you able to connect with students.  I have 3 groups of students 14 -15 who are interested in learning about Puerto Rico.  They are in Spanish 1 and speak English fluently.  Would be interested? Thanks. Melissa

    Re: ePals wanted: Puerto Rico

Hi Liz. We are a 4th grade class from Florida that has a travel buddy and journal for your kids to write in if you are interested. We can do this one time as a project. The travel buddy would stay with you for one week and then you can ship it back to us. email me at     sitsa1998@epals.com if you would like to do this sometime this year. We just started school today and we can probably send our alligator to you in the fall around October or so.

    Regards,

    Sia

    Re: ePals wanted: Puerto Rico

    Hi Liz,

I have one group of 24 kids that we may be able to work with. I'm not sure of your timeline. We have 4 weeks of term left and then a 2 week break until the 6th Oct. That will be our last term for the year as we finish in Dec over here. If it is too hard to do the project maybe just an email exchange on culture, lifestyle etc. I'm pretty sure half my students have no idea where Puerto rico is let alone anything about your culture. Hope we can work something out.

    Cheers Diane.

    Re: ePals wanted: United States

Hola. I teach Spanish in a public high school in New Hampshire. I have two groups of students to try a weekly exchange in basic topics from Sept. through Jan. then Jan. through June. I would propose 2 paragraphs one in English and 1 Spanish. We could pick topics for mutual benefit in advance if you are interested. Our students are 15-18 years old. There are approximately 70 children each semester. Please contact me to let us know if you are interested in establishing a relationship. Gracias.
