Hi my name is Hayden. We don't have anything major but we have some bad ice storms, cold and hot weather and some tornadoes too.

    Re: Global Issues

Hai Shalini. Nice to meet you. My name's Yustinus Adityawan in Indonesia.

In our country, especially in Jogjakarta Province, many disasters took place at my region such as landslide and volcanic eruption.
Maybe the best technique for hazard mitigation is spatial disaster management. It is including all of aspects in mitigation such as A) preparing development studies and plans, B) siting, designing, and constructing safe structures, C) regulating development, D) preparing for and responding to disasters.

    Regards.

    Re: Global Issues, India

Hello, my name is Brooklynn. I am from America.

    Our country does things like:

    • Setting up evacuation plans,
    • Providing mitigation,
    • Securing buildings,
    • and making sure there is at least damage as possible.

    Re: Global Issues, United States

My name is Will and we just learned about Natural Disasters at school.  We learned how to make an emergency kit.  It should have things like non-perishable food, flashlights and blankets.  A really good book about severe weather is DK Guide: Weather by Michael Allaby.  It has cool pictures and information about tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and other natural disasters.

I live in Illinois and we get tornadoes and high winds.  We also had an earthquake last year which was very surprising.  At school they teach us what to do in a tornado.  We have a tornado siren in our town that sounds when there is a tornado spotted.  You need to seek cover then.  We have a basement we go into.  They test the siren every month to make sure it works.  Just last week we learned about how to make a disaster kit.  You are supposed to have food, water, battery powered radio, flashlight and batteries, swiss army knife, blanket and extra clothes, etc.

Hi! My name is Oscar. I live in the United States. We have a lot of different natural disasters here. Where I live we get a lot of earthquakes. We prepare by having practices at school for what to do if an earthquake comes. We also have a kit at my house of emergency supplies. What do you have in India?

    Global Issues

Hi, I am from India. I want to get replies on various science related projects. Specially on the topic Disaster Management. If you have any details like- the kind of natural disasters in your region, what disaster management techniques are being used in your region and what are the causes of these disasters. I will be thankful if you share it with me.
