I don't know exactly what you expect from Canadian hockey. I am a Canadian peewee hockey player and I find hockey a little more rough than lacrosse to be honest. And I won Provincials for lacrosse. I also got my head smashed into the boards when I got hit from behind a while ago. It's not just in the NHL that they are rough but in smaller leagues too. Hockey is a natural way for people to get a lot of rage out.

Yes there was a huge fight with Zedno Chara and some other player. It was a big bloody fight. Zdeno Chara won that fight. Have you seen that fight? I saw it on You tube. I like violent hockey because it pumps up the fans, the players, and the players on the bench.

I don't think hockey or any game for that matter, would be as exciting without fighting. It creates viewers because people love to watch fights. What do you think?

I think hockey is violent and it should stay that way. That is what makes the sport. If there was no contact or fights it would be a boring game and nobody would watch anymore. The fights in the game happen because there is an argument between players, not because they are losing. I think violence should be in hockey.

Hockey needs to be physical. Hockey is starting to get less popular and I think the players are trying to add more action to the game to bring up the ratings. It's not that they don't respect each other, it's that hockey ratings have gone way down since new padding came out to help prevent injuries. The sad part is that the spectators love to see injuries which there were a lot of back in the day. The NHL players are fighting and getting more violent to try to get the sport back in to the spotlight from where it has faded.

Hockey is supposed to be a violent sport. If you play hockey you have to be tough. There are going to be hard hits and fights where people are going to get injured. That's what hockey is all about.

In Boston, there are plenty of fights with Milan Lucic and Shawn Thornton. They are the brawlers of Boston!

I don't beleive the fights in hockey are that rough. They have equipment on that protects them in fights.

    Re:Hockey's too physical now, USA

Yeah but the thing is with hockey sadly it's dying. I love hockey but in the NHL it's all about attracting crowds and making money. Love for the sport is only something that sometimes comes along with it. As we move to a more fast paced society the sports have to adapt too and this is how hockey has adapted. Along with the new rules about smaller goalie pads and etc.

There is more fights in two games of hockey than in two months of football and I play hockey so I know. I am not saying that there is no violence in football but I have never really seen a fight in football. But that's just my opinion.

Hockey is a physical game. That hit on Nazzy was so dirty that I think Todd did the right thing.

My understanding of the Todd Bertuzzi accident is that if you looked at whole thing like I did then you would understand why he did in the first place but don"t get me wrong it was wrong and stupid but he did it for what Steve Morrre did to Marcus Naslund and my opinion for what should happen to Todd is to be suspended at least 1 month for the next season and you don't need to press charges that's because it reflects everbody who loves hockey in Canada. Email me back you guys and girls, from Patrick K.

Bertuzzi shouldn't have done that. And what made it worse was that the coach knew that the team was out to get Moore. But I do think Bertuzzi was genuinely sorry. But Moore did give one of the Canuck's players a concussion but I don't know if it was on purpose.

Well yeah, my friend Josh is in hockey. Some of the fights are rough. These guys Rayn, Jeff, and Ray are all in hockey and they fight a lot. So as you can see I come from a town of hockey friends. From:Renee

    Re:Violent Hockey?, USA

They won 10-2, yeah it was horrible. I'm glad Bertuzzi got suspended, he deserved it. Violent hockedy is great but not that violent. I mean if that ever happened again (not with Moore and Bertuzzi) but if it happened with some other teams and not so bad then yeah it'd be great. There aren't any other fights I know about but there are some that weren't as bad. I know I'm repeating myself but hey that's what I do.
