Re: U.S. 7th graders seek The Way We Are partners

    Hello Jayme,

I am in the exact same situation.  I am a 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher in North Carolina, USA with 94 students who are extremely eager to start the  e-pal program.

"The Way We Are" project seems absolutely perfect for connecting students with cultures around the world.

We just finished reading a Japanese short story in my class and would love to connect with a Japanese classroom.

I have noticed that teachers from other countries do not have as many students as I do therefore it makes an exact student-to student match impossible, which is perfectly alright.

It would be wonderful if my classes could be matched up with many classes in Japan or any other country.  Not necessarily a specific class.

I hope this works out and I find a cooperating classroom soon.  This project is too terrific to pass up!

U.S. 7th graders seek The Way We Are partners

I am a 7th grade teacher from upstate New York, USA and I am interested in doing this project with my students.  I have 94 students ages 12-14 and am looking for epals around the same age.  I teach English, but am more concerned with the cultural aspect of this project.  My kids don't have a good deal of knowledge of other cultures around the world. If you have fewer students, don't let that stop you!  My kids can share epals...I really just want them to understand that there is a whole big world out there and that things are different all over.

I also recently returned from a 3 week trip to 3 African countries so I'm interested in those cultures, but would like any interested foreign country schools to contact me!  I look forward to working with you and your students!
