Hello Man O' War Primary School,

Our class of 22 third graders would love to share this project with you!  We are part of the New York City public school system and we recently experienced a category two hurricane.  In August of 2011 Hurricane Irene hit the Northeastern coast of the US.  Since our school is located on the Rockaway Peninsula, our area was under a mandatory evacuation.  My students are currently writing personal narratives about their experience with Hurricane Irene and we will be studying natural disasters also.  I will probably use this as an enrichment project for a small group of my students.  We would love to share this project with you.

We are a school in Cuernavaca, 40 miles from Mexico City.  We will be studying the effects of natural disasters on the community, looking also at changes in both the structure and atmosphere of the Earth, intelligent architecture, early warning systems, survival, among other topics.  We will be launching this particular unit of inquiry later in the academic year, but would be interested in taking part in a project with another school.  Our students are Spanish speakers, with English as a second language, and we have access to email, Skype and webcam.
