Thoughts on Success Rate of Classroom Social Skills Development Programs

Hi, I am interested in your thoughts, views and opinions on the validity, classroom teaching time opportunities, and success rate of using social skills development programs in the early childhood/elementary classroom.  I have attempted to implement a program this year with a team teaching partner and we found it very difficult to set aside a specific time to implement the program in our already busy schedule of literacy, numeracy and physical education lessons.  My feeling is that social skill development is vital for young children and their ability to academically and socially interact and integrate themselves into the school community.  What are you thoughts and helpful hints and tips for this issue?
