Re: 10-12 yrs olds looking for April start

    Hi Rhonda,

I have almost 200 students I'm arranging this for so I'm trying to connect with a lot of different students from different biomes. If we are able to also hook up with Girl Scouts from Virginia who are also in a temperate zone, would your students be able to share their experiences on a saltwater shoreline? Would they be able to share any information about plant and animal life on or near the beach or in the water and maybe some threats to those habitats? My students live an hour away from the beach but they have little knowledge of it. Swimming and the ocean are not a big part of my student's cultures. You may not live near the beach at all but I thought I would throw it out there just in case...

Thanks so much for expressing an interest. I hope we can work something out.

    Sincerely, Leanne

    Hi, Leanne-

My Girl Scouts would love to learn about your biome and your students.  I only have a few scouts, but they are willing to interact with several students each.  They are going to use code names instead of their real names.

Can we work with you?  We live in a temperate forest biome close to the Ohio River in West Virginia in the United States.

    Dr. C.

    Hello Leanne,

I have a grade 4 class (ages 9 and 10) in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada. We live in a Fresh water habitat, close to Lake Ontario, one of the the 5 great lakes in North America.  I also am looking to work on the habitat project in April to June.  How do you plan on working the project?

    Hello Leanne,

I'm an elementary teacher of 5th graders and I think we can work something out with the Biomes.  We live in the Temperate Deciduous Forest in Fort Lauderdale, FL in the United States.  Let me know if you are interested.

    Fondly,

    Rhonda M

10-12 yrs olds looking for April start

    Hi there,

I'm a science teacher at an American School in Taipei, Taiwan. I have eight classes of 6th graders who will be starting a biome unit in April. I would love to set up this epals habitat unit with classes who live in other habitats. We live in a Tropical Forest biome.

    Thank you... Leanne R.
