    Re: Swine Flu

I agree. I think the media is blowing this way out of proportion. I mean 38,000 people die every year from the flu anyway.

    Re: Swine Flu

I think swine flu is a bad thing and everybody needs to be scared because it is spreading around the world. People think, oh well, it isn't in my part of the world so why even care about it. Also there are people in the world that really do care and those people need to be recognized. If you are one of those people who don't care, then you need to start caring because the world is going to start decreasing over this flu.

Hey, I'm Colleen. I live in Massachusetts. Yes, I agree the media is taking and blowing it out of proposition, it is something that can be a big deal, if you have it. In my state there are only 2 known cases and people are still saying that every one is going to get it. It is unfortunate that a 2 year old died.

    Re: Swine Flu

It's the press that is making it a big thing. Over 38,000 people die in the U.S alone by different flu's. The swine flu is like any other flu it's only bad because it might mutate into somthing worse. It's funny watching schools close over a flu.

    Re: Swine Flu

I agree, I'm in Michigan and have people out there with the Swine Flu. This in a way is ridiculous that they would shut down the schools.

    Re: Swine Flu

I have three things to say.

    1. I agree with you and disagree with you at the same time.

    2. It is serious because it is deadly.

    3. It should be something we worry about because what would happen if you got it. You'd be worried then.

    Re: Swine Flu

Well it is a big deal but I think people are getting a little too freaked about the whole idea. It's nothing that we should just forget about and not care about. It is a serious thing because it's deadly. I don't think that we need to close down schools because that is just going overboard!

    Re: Swine Flu

    I'm Maddi,

Don't be worried. Only one boy died so far and he was from Mexico, where it came from. His parents were bringing him over to get him help, but it was to late. So I'm not really worried. Everyone thinks it is a big deal. Get over it. It's not. OK

Also the 2 year old was originally from Mexico. It was only a little distance away from New Mexico. I'm from Mass. and it's not that big in New England.

    Re: Swine Flu

    Hey Kelly!!!

I'm Ola, a teenager here from a suburb of Chicago of Illinois. I totally agree with you on media blowing swine flu out of proportion and that the few deadly cases occurred in Texas, including a boy of about two years of age. Many articles also say that the swine flu is very similar to any regular flu, including its multiple flu-like symptons. People, beginning to come to their senses, have calmed down about it a little and soon, as I see it, swine flu will either be a worry of the past, or a very regular and typical type of flu called swine.

    Re: Swine Flu

Hi Kelly, I'm Malynn. I say that you should be more concerned about the swine flu because anyone can get it if they do not take caution. I heard on the news that some one in Wisconsin died from the swine flu. To provent it you should wash your hands, if sick, stay home, take vitamins, don't share things, and if you have to sneeze or cough do it in a kleenex or in your elbow. If someone in a school gets swine flu the school has to close for 11 days. If you get it you can't go anywhere until you recover from it. They say the swine flu will clear up around June. Until then you should be very careful.

    Re: Swine Flu

    Hi Caitlin,

The swine flu is not very different from the influenza virus that spreads annually. It also seems that the strain that has hit the United States is not nearly as strong as the one that hit Mexico. Just take normal precautions like washing your hands frequently and avoiding people who might have the virus. I hope I was a help.

    Re: Swine Flu

I agree that the media is blowing this thing way out of porportion. Then again their just trying to warn people that there is a virus going around and we have to be more careful. For example, taking showers, washing hands, not sharing things, just being sanitary in general. If this would get out of hand it will be very bad. So you have to thank the media because they helped the word get passed along and now it's not that big. Hopefully this won"t get out of hand.
