Re: Seeking Pen pals for 25 Australian 12 year olds

    Dear Matt,

my French 12-13 year old students would certainly be very interested in e-palling yours! They study English (as well as Spanish or Italian) and their English book has a whole unit devoted to Australia. It is based on the story of a group of 12 year-olds who go to a drama club in London; one of them-Sharon- is Australian; so when she goes back to Australia, there's a whole unit about her and her country.

French students are always very excited about Australia and Australian culture. My students would also have a lot to share with yours as they live in Marseille, a big cosmopolitan city with a rich history which they know well.

Most of them have two cultures (French+North African or Central African) and would therefore have a lot to say to your students.

However, as you probably know, our students here are on holiday at the moment, so they could only start e-palling yours in September. Would that be alright? Would your 12-year old students be interested in writing to mine?

    Grand bonjour de Marseille!

    Sabine

Re: Seeking Pen pals for 25 Australian 12 year olds

    Hi Matt!
I am a 2/3/4th grade teacher from Canada who is looking for a pen pals from different countries for each of my 17 students (ages 7-12). I think it would be wonderful for each student to learn about the culture and lives of children their age and to report back their findings to the rest of the students. Would you happen to still be interested in matching one of your students with one of mine? Please let me know as soon as possible!

     Cheers, Danya

Re: Seeking Pen pals for 25 Australian 12 year olds

i would absolutely love to be involved.

I teach a year 8 class in Auckland, New Zealand (12, turning 13) - and a lot of my kids have shown real interest in finding pen pals.

It could be a possibility that we pool our kids together so that each class gets 1/3 of their letters from each different country?  Could be neat to get a variety of international response.

Please let me know if you guys might be keen...

    Cheers,
    Sarah

    Hi, nice to meet you.

My students(11~12 year olds) are seeking international penpals, too.

There are 25 students in my class, too.

My school is located in Incheon, South Korea.

I think if your class and mine will exchage email, we could give good experience to our students.

    Please answer me.

Re: Seeking Pen pals for 25 Australian 12 year olds

    Hi Matt,

    I have got two questions:

    1) Have you got any particular project on your mind, or do you just want to offer your students the opportunity to be in contact with students from other countries? (We all know what it's like: they never all write regularly, and if the mail exchange is the basis for a project in lessons, this is really awkward.)

    2) Do you need 25 partners, or could you imagine finding some from one country or place and some from another?

I have got a year 7 (12 or going on 12) and could ask them if they'd like to write, but at the moment I don't want to do an in-class project.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Sabine

    Hi Matt!

My 7th graders (ages 12-13) would be very interested in having ePals from Australia.  We live in the United States in the state of New York.  We live in a town about 3-hours north of New York City.  We could begin writing in Sept.  Let me know if you and your students might be interested.
