Hi Shauna:
I'm a high school German/French teacher in Tiffin, Ohio. I needed 6 credits to renew my teaching certificate so I decided to take a technology course on-line (on-line because it was half the cost of a regular course). Because I am over 50, I am not very familiar with all of the technology out there. I have used ePals for email exchanges. I have had my students make videos and PowerPoints with audio files inbedded. That is about the extent of my technology use.
I am about 75% finished with the course and I hate it. I will never take another on-line course. I feel that instead of giving you the resources, they want you to go out and find them on the web. This results in long hours to finish the smallest assignment. I am working 3-5 hours/day to finish this class before I start teaching on Aug 16. Meanwhile, I still need another 3 credit hours before next June. It will not be on-line!
On the positive side, I found under the teacher resources, a list of websites for google.docs that will help me a lot. This is the type of information that I spend hours looking for. I'm currently working on a chapter where I need to find social networking site that I could use in a foreign language classroom. I thought of ePals right away but I need to come up with 3 more. Any suggestions?
