Re: 6th grade literature classes seeking collaboration

    Hi Kim and Nargiz,

May I join you? I have 2 sections who need classes to work with still (about 20 students in each section). My students (all boys) also choose their own books most of the time, and we have an online discussion forum and will also be adding journal entries/blogs. Our site is http://readforfun.org/Moodle if you want to login as a guest and take a look around. Let me know what you think!

Re: 6th grade literature classes seeking collaboration

    Hi Nargiz,

I very excited to hear from you! My students choose their own books (I have genre guidelines in place) and they have reading journals they write in on a regular basis. They give book commercials to the class and I am going to let them start use their blogs to write journal entries and post comments to others' blog posts. Let me know what ideas you are thinking about and we can work something out.

Re: 6th grade literature classes seeking collaboration

    Hi Karen,

I'm so sorry about the delay in responding. Yes, I'm still looking for a group. I work at Gainesville Middle School in Gainesville, Texas. Email, snail mail, blogging, etc. is fine.
My students will be giving book commercials for books they are reading. I could post them on my website, so your students could view them. Another idea would be discussions about books (maybe a class read aloud or smaller book clubs). Let me know what you are thinking. Where do you teach?

    Hello Kim,

I teach 6th grade. I'm interested in connecting with you & your SS. We're a private school in Baku, Azerbaijan. We're open to video-conferencing, blogging, email, etc.

Re: 6th grade literature classes seeking collaboration

Hi Kim - I just submitted a reply, but it's not showing.

I teach 4 classes of 6th grade with about 78 students, all boys. Are you still looking for a group to work with?

    Thanks,

    Karen

Re: 6th grade literature classes seeking collaboration

    Hi Kim,

I also teach 4 classes of 6th grade reading with about 78 students (all boys). I am not sure if we'd have many opportunities for video-conferencing (just because of our schedule) but I am interested in blogging, e-mail, etc. I am interested in the boys having an authentic audience for their book discussions, and in having the opportunity to be experts about a given topic. Is this along the lines of what you hope your students' experience will be?

If you're still interested, please let me know and maybe we can set something up. Where are you located?

    Thanks,

    Karen

6th grade literature classes seeking collaboration

I teach 4 classes of 6th grade reading with a total of 65 students. I am interested in finding another class for each of mine for collaboration. Open to video-conferencing, blogging, email, etc. Let me know if you are interested and then we can work out the details.
