Kia ora Michael, Niahal and Vicki!
Our school year does not begin for another three weeks but we are about to explore our very local coastline, the wildlife, habitats and conservation projects needed along with some local Maori mythology, art and hopefully, photography. The truth is, we have an amazing back door that these children take for granted and the aim of our learning is to develop knowledge of the local area but to then, be able to see the need as citizens to contribute to our local environment. We would love to share and compare this via wikis, blogs, e-mails and maybe even skype (the latter is my next technological challenge!) with any other classrooms around the world.
I will be working with 28 Year 5 and 6 children (9-10) and we are based in Dunedin, New Zealand. I realise that our academic year does not synch with the majority of the world but the more diverse our habitats are, the more enriching it will be for our children.
I look forward to hearing from you soon! ripples@epals.com
