Re: US high school students want to SKYPE

    Hello Mary

It is now obvious that my original reply was not posted, as only my question as to if it had been appeared in this forum.

To set up Skype I would need your school Skype name.  What I suggested in was that if you provide your school snail mail address I would start the ball rolling by posting you a CD on life and living in a suburb of Greater London this could form the basis for a later Skype Q&A session on the areas and facilities available in the different city’s in which we both live.  We would have to pre book this video link to take into account the time differences.

Do you think this is a suitable area of study and information exchange for your students as an opener to possible future links or information exchanges between us?  I am open to any suggestions that would be of help to you or your class.

As I expect you are about to or have closed for the Xmas holidays so if I can obtain the school address I can post the CD to be available when school re opens in Jan 2010.

      I await your comments.

    Regards

      John Filkins

Re: US high school students want to SKYPE

    Hello John~

Sorry I haven't responded before now. I fail to check my ePals mail as faithfully as I should. Yes my group of 7 students (ages 15-18) are interested in corresponding with groups in other countries using Skype.  I am trying to think of a project to center this experiment around to make it more "meaningful" but I am very interested in seeing their reaction to using the technology to "talk" to people in other countries. We are very flexible so however we can make this work we will do it. Thank you. Mary Warner

Re: US high school students want to SKYPE

    Hi

I would love to help you and members of your class in their studies of using Skype, if you do not obtain a schools support.  We currently Skype with teachers and students in in 7 different locations around the world, And exchange materials on England and the UKs towns and places of special interest and their history including the capital London. Plus some locations in Europe we have visited and photographed while on holiday.

I would explain my hobby is the development of multi media learning materials (PowerPoints etc) on most aspects of life and living in the UK, past and present and English for ESL students also dual language systems in collaboration with the non English speaking countries teachers that I collaborate with on joint projects.

So if you think a retired teacher with high level ICT skills could be of help please respond with a school mail or direct epals address.

    Looking forward to your reply

    Regards

    John F

US high school students want to SKYPE

I teach multimedia classes in a small rural school district in central NY and I am looking for a group for my students to "practice" using skype with as well as other multimedia collaboration methods. We can be very flexible as to projects, etc.
