    Laura,

I am excited to collaborate with you. I agree that we need to set up our idea exchanges before the students become involved. Do you have any ideas?  Although I was quite active in global exchanges ten years ago, when I moved to the high school level, I stopped in order to familiarize myself with the content. Now I am ready to go again.  Have you had success with a particular exchange format? I look forward to your thoughts.

    Elaine

Re: NY teacher of ages 15-18 seeking reading/writing groups

    Dear Elaine,

My name is Andrea Ulmer-Heinrich and I am an English teacher at a German grammar school in a beautiful small town on the river Elbe and I have one small group of 12th-graders (17-18 year- olds) who are preparing for the Cambridge certificate in advanced English (C1 level). My students in this class are mainly from the Czech Republic , eager to learn about other cultures and very open-minded. I can ask them on Wednesday if they are interested, but I am absolutely sure that they will be delighted. I am looking forward to your answer.

    Andrea

I am very interested in your project.  I also teach sophomores.  I would love to set up a correspondence.  Perhaps since we teach the same content.  We could compare our curriculums and work around them.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Michele

Re: NY teacher of ages 15-18 seeking reading/writing groups

Hello!  I teach 10th-12th graders in a creative writing program in upstate New York.  I would love to collaborate to share writing, storytelling, digital projects, etc.  Could we set up a multi-class unit?  I did this with a classroom last year in India using Ning.com, and we had students reading the same YA Lit books with an online bookclub discussion.  I'm open to any project, especially if we could publish the students' writing in some form or another.  My students would love to have pen-pals.  Let me know your thoughts.  My ePals email is atriplett@epals.com Thanks!

    Elaine,

My name is Laura Wright, and I teach sophomore English in northwestern Tennessee. I'm very interested in working with you and would like to discuss some details. School began today for us, but I don't mind waiting until September, especially if we have a solid plan by then. If you're interested, could you email me a more detailed description of your plan so far? I'd especially like to know if you're wanting their collaborative entries to be essays, blogs, emails, videos, or something else. Thanks!

    Laura

I will be working with a Spanish speaker ESL college freshmen class on August at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and would like to work with you. My students' age will range from 16-18. I would like my students to exchange ideas on dialy routines, new, music, movies, art, culture, within others. I, as their facilitator, will monitor their writing project.

NY teacher of ages 15-18 seeking reading/writing groups

My name is Elaine Whitcomb. I teach high school English students in northern New York.  I have five classes of sophomores and one class on seniors. I am interested in setting up correspondence groups so that it is easier to monitor participation.  Each group contains at least 4 or more students but submits one collaborated entry on an agreed schedule. Groups would alternate discussion topics on student interests, current events, literature, and student poetry.  National and international ePals are welcome.  School begins Sept. 7, so future planning is welcome!  Thanks for your interest!
