Project Work:
Besides helping our communities deal with
the challenges of sustainable environment, students learn to multi-task. The
projects for this trimester are:
- UNDERSTANDING SPACE: What is space and
its wonders. And how humans are impacting it through their actions.
Explore space issues and how we can make space cleaner, better as
children. All students in groups of 10 were the SPACE BRIGADES. Students
understood weather, climate and space in general before they got into
particulars of Global Warming.
- ELECTRICITY: ENERGY BRIGADE audit the electricity for
the school, how we use it daily, how can we reduce the consumption,
explore ways of bringing solar energy into our community through government
support.
- WATER: WATER BRIGADE reports on use of
water in school, how we can reduce waste, creative ways of distributing
water to people and devise a water harvesting system.
- POLLUTION: POLLUTION BRIGADE reports on
how Delhi is choking, students choose one
form of pollution in Delhi
and explore ways of spreading the word about how we can help stop this
pollution. Students use photos, drawings creative stories and poems to
tell the community about this.
- NATURAL RESOURCES: ANU BRIGADE reports
on how forests and living beings on earth suffer because of global warming
and how we can make it better for animals. Students will choose one
animal/ forest in India
and explore ways of spreading the word about what is happening to them.
POVERTY:
POVERTY BRIGADE reports on how people live daily, how poverty affects people in
Delhi. Explored
reasons, including migration, degraded spaces to live in and corruption.
