Kayla, I agree with you all the way that global warming is a larger issue than most people realize. However, there are much more important things going on economically that need to be taken care of first and foremost before the environment needs to be worked on.

I completely agree with the title of this post. It is a bigger issue than most people realize and our generation is the one to solve it. I would love to talk to other kids on this subject so we can work together to do our part.

I agree that global warming is an issue- However, are you sure that humans are the main cause? After watching a video in class about Global Warming, a lot of our opinons have been changed. The video really made us consider other possibilities that could be causing Global Warmning. For example, volcanoes produce a vast majority of the carbon dioxide in the world.

The video is available online- search for "The Great Global Warming Swindle"

    Thanks!

    Re: Global Warming, United States

Hey guys, it's awesum to see so many people concerned about the issue, however as are still a small minority. Sure cutting down on our own emissions is useful, but I believe that education is the key if we want to actually get started in the fight against climate change. From a movie I saw recently...

"Change can only happen if we are all aware of the problem" (Movie is called HOME, it's on youtude, watch it! Its soooo useful!)

So please, if you want to make a difference; spread the word! Try and convince your friends to turn their computer off (or atleast on standby) when they aren't using it, to walk or cycle to school instead of getting driven. All the efforts we make are canceled out by just one other person if they don't make the same steps that we do!

Also, I've read that a lot of you guys have been trying to lower your energy useage through using energy-saving bulbs etc. If you do not know about food miles, water useage within food or organic foods; then please watch the movie i posted the link for.

It has stuff that you may not have know that are essential for sustainable use of resources on the planet (For example: 1kg of chicken consumes 4000 litres of water, and 1 kg of beef uses 15500 litres! So think carefully when your mum asks if you want chicken of beef next)

Hola. You are really smart. How do you think that adults are going to listen to us when they have other stuff to do? Or they just do whatever they want. We are in a free country. That's why we have the naturals rights.

I totally agree with you. If our government spent more time and money on the environment then we would be able to have a better economy. This summer where I live, Clarksville, TN, we had days when it was 90 degrees, but felt like it was 101 or 105 degrees.

Our country too, the days are growing hotter in summer and colder in winter. In my hometown, Busan, Korea, it originally rarely snows, but today, I'm concerned with the snow in winter. It is unthinkable in past. I'm so scared.

    Fields J:
Where I live, at the start of December, it was around 65 degrees.

Do you mean degrees in Fahrenhiet? Because in my country, we use degrees CELSIUS and, then, 65 degrees is quite hot!

Unless we can find a way to live on Mars, I think we should stop it soon. But living on Mars would be kind of cool. . .

    Re: Global Warming, United States

    Hi everyone!

I agree on the points all of you have made on this forum regarding this issue of Global Warming. Some very intelligent and thoughtful replies and suggestions have been made.

The truth is that we all must act together to resolve this issue, and we must do that  soon. We can't expect a tower to be built with 1 person alone, in a night. We need everyone together to reduce their Carbon Dioxide emissions. This can be done in a varied number of ways, from recycling, using larger forms of public transport ( i.e buses instead of cars/motorbikes etc.) We all should also use less electricity too. Tthe other day i went into Morissons and bought 5 energy saving light bulbs for 50p, BARGAIN, so the supplies are existing. Everyone should just find the right method to save the energy that is not needed. All our TV addicts remember not to keep your Television on stand-by mode. it's the little changes which will make a BIG difference. Just say to yourself, you want to live a good life, so you have to change.

Talking is good, but acting on discussions is the active part. Good luck everyone , like they say 'together we can make a difference' and we wil!

    Regards

    Mehvish

    Re: Global Warming, United States

The thing that bothers me most is that people are so concerned but yet they dont do anything about it.  There are many visible solutions to our problems we are just to lazy to make them work.  If everybody just did there part and helped instead of just standing around and acting concerned we would be in far better conditions.  To continue with what I have said we are not the only ones who are being affected our laziness is killing habitat such as polar bears and other animals.  We are making the world miserable for generations to come the people who come after us will study us and the books will tell them how cruel we were to other animals and how we were the ones who are making them suffer.  Is that how you really want to be looked at?

I know. I hate how everyone litters and wastes everything. We are throwing away perfectly reusable plastic bags and recycable paper products!

Yes, I think you're right. i say we need to fix the problem before it gets worse. it's not right that a planet so young could be destroyed by humans.
