    Re:Teacher Questions, UK

Hello Courtney, My name is Lisa. I teach year 3 in the UK. The children are between 7-8 years. We have an email curriculum unit that we are required to cover. At our school we do this in year 3. The children firstly have lessons on internet safety and using the net etc. We have to get parental premission. We then have a piece of software called email detectives. The children work through this and then we use ePALS to put what they have been learning into practice. They use the ePALS as a communication tool. It covers the ICT curriculum. The pupils really enjoy chatting to children in other countries and have been very enthusiatic. Hope this has helped. If you need any other info, let me know Lisa

    Re:Teacher Questions, USA

Hello Courtney! I hope that you get this before the end of your semester. I just started using ePALS with a bunch of my students. I teach 6th grade Special Education, and a few of the kids are participating in the program. Since I just started using the program, I am hoping to boost their writing skills as well as typing skills. For example, I have one girl who was literally traumatized by her computer teacher earlier this year that she wanted nothing to do with the computer. Now she is slowly using the computer to communicate with a few ePALS from all over the world. My goal next year is to focus on social studies, science, and math. I'd like the group I have next year to ask questions to other students about what they learn in their schools and so on. I'm still learning about this program as much as the kids are. But I do wish you luck with this! Melissa Fernandes

    Teacher Questions, USA

Hello All! My name is Courtney and I am an education major at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. I am in a technology class and we have an assignment on ePALS and learning about it and its services. We are to try to communicate with teachers and to ask them a few questions. Any response back to this email will help greatly for my research on ePALS and for our project in this class! How do you personally use ePALS in your classroom? Can you use ePALS for any subject area? How do your students feel about ePALS? I would appreciate any response on how you feel about these questions. Thanks for the help. Courtney
