    Hi Lisa

I am from India. I do agree that teahing is a calling and not just a profession. The Indian culture has a beautiful name for a teacher- “Guru” made from two words “Gu-darkness” and “Ru-light”. It truly defines a teacher…a person who takes one from darkness towards light. Darkness is a broad term for negative traits in an individual that can be firmly engraved in our lives if we do not have a perfect sculptor, a teacher, who can see the world’s finest masterpiece, if only what is a slab of stone for the rest of the world.

Dear Lisa,  I love your reply. I am in intrested in becoming friends with teachers who believe and live that teaching is not just a job but a mission.  We have a calling and I believe we need to make others see teaching as such.  Can we be friends?

Dear Lisa, I love your wonderful write up. I am a teacher also. To me Lisa, teaching is not just a job, it is a human service and should be regarded as a mission. I have a journal I write to motivate teachers. We could be partners and if you like to have one just write me at chizyken@epals.com.

Hi Lisa, I'm really impressed and touched by your reply. Thank you that you considered teaching a calling. In fact, it's a holy message and should all those who took it as a profession know its meaning, they actually would give all the time without waiting for a reward to take. Thanks a lot for your message and all my love and greetings to all teachers who considered teaching a sacred profession. Cheers Suher

Re:Teaching is a Sacred Profession, USA

My older sister and I are both teachers. She is in inner city Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and I'm in the rural mountains of North Carolina, USA. We've talked about how we ended up in this profession, and we believe that we are doing God's work. I'm really not a religious person. I haven't gone to church services in years. However, I feel very strongly that teaching is a calling and should be treated as such. Much love to fellow teachers! -Lisa >

Teaching is a Sacred Profession, Egypt

Hi all Don't you find that teaching is a sacred profession? To develop it and progress in it, to give it its right, is by training we ought to be trained to the best methods of teaching to help this profession achieve its goal. Above all, this is also done by evaluating your work as evaluation leads to improvement. We should all as teacher adhere to good morals to give our student a model and set a good example to know how should he behave in his coming life. In this way we, the teachers, illuminate his life and guide him to the best future. Right? Cheers Soher Egypt
