    Re:Lunch Box Contents, USA

Hi Rose Davy and students! My name is Mrs. Yolanda Rawls-James and I teach at Taylors Creek Elementary in Hinesville, Georgia. I am new to ePALS and I am already enjoying sharing ideas with teachers and classes around the world. I teach computer technology in grades K-5th. I have asked some of my Kindergarteners and first graders what are some things they put in their lunch and the responses were as follows: apples, bananas, a sandwich (peanut butter & jelly; bologna with cheese; ham and cheese), a Capri Sun or apple juice, potato chips, cookies (Oreo's or chocolate chip) and some candy. I hope this helps and you can email us any time.

    件名:Lunch Box Contents, Japan

Hello Rose, It sounds very interesting to watch what the children have in their lunch boxes, or eat for lunch. In Japan, most students of public elementary and junior high school eat school lunch which is cooked by dieticians and dinner ladies at school cooking center. There is a little difference between cities or towns, but the students eat the same menu at the same school. School lunch is very important for the students's health. At their house, they just eat what they like. Recently parents spoil their children. Many children don't like vegetables and they don't know many cooking ways and they don't know traditional food. But school lunch uses many vegetables and many kinds of local food. Most students like school lunch. Of course we teachers eat the same menu and we like it. We can send you the menu and the photos of our school lunch during 1st, 2nd, 3rd weeks in September. I hope you and your students enjoy them. Please let me know how to send you them. Sayoko Uehara

Hi Sayoko, thank you for your message. It was very interesting to see what your children eat. Some of our children have a meal cooked at the school while the others bring lunch boxes from home. These may contain a sandwich, a drink, fruit, crisps, cake and other bits. It would be good to link with you on this work, so that the children can ask and answer questions about their lunches. Cheers Rose

    Re:Lunch Box Contents, Japan

Hi Rose, I am very happy to find your message because my students and I just started to search school lunch in other countries. In Japan, most students take school lunch which is cooked by dietician and school cook. School lunch usually involves rice (or bread), hot main dish, salad, fruit or desert and milk. I know the situation and system in another country is very different from Japan. But my students think other countries's children eat similar school lunch. So I want my students search school lunch in another countries and exchange menu and question and answers with many classroom. I teach 4th grade students (9-10years old) at Tomioka Elementary School in Tokushima, in Japan. Can we send e-mail about our school lunch? And could you send us e-mail giving information about your school lunch (lunch box)? I wait for your response. Sayoko Uehara

    Lunch Box Contents, UK

Hi there, we are having a healthy week at our school, where one of our focusses is what the children have in their lunch boxes, or eat for lunch. We would like to find out what children in other countries have in their lunch boxes, or for lunch, and I am looking for schools who could send us this information. We are a lower school, with children up to 9 years old, so would ideally like to know about children of a similar age. We will be doing this during the week October 17th - 21st. Thanks for your time. Rose Davy
