    Re: Most difficult language

I read an article once that was discussing some studies that showed the difficulty of learning a language corresponded with the learners mother language, and what part of the brain was required most to properly read it. For example, a learner that is more famililar with Latin/Greek-based, or Germanic language (English, French etc..) would have a harder time learing oriental languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc..) because oriental language require more right-brain activity than Latin/Greek-based or Germanic languages, and the learner isn't used to that form of communication. It's the same for someone whose mother language comes from an oriental background while learning Latin/Greek-based language, except, while they were learning/using the language they would have more left-brain activity than they normally would while communicating. My mother language I once studied Chinese, and I'm currently studying French, both have been equally challenging to me, I suspect because I have a good balance between both hemispheres of my brain.

    Re: Most difficult language?

Hi! My name is Marie, and I'm from Norway, I think Norwegian is the most difficult language because of all the rules and write straight. There's so much to think about when to learn Norwegian. And plus we have three extra letters in the alphabet, æ, ø, and å :)

    Re: Most difficult language

Hi, I'm Hyungu. I'm a Korean. Since I know how to speak Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and English, I think that Japanese is the most difficult language. Also, their letters are hard to learn because it's from Chinese letters.

    Re: Most difficult language

English is definitely the hardest language, primarily because it doesn't make sense and it contradicts itself way too often.

    Re: Most difficult language

I'm quite sure English is the most difficult language in the world due to the fact that there are exceptions to EVERY rule, and the odd phoentics that we have. Second to that, I think Japenese is the second most difficult language. I mean seriously, saying the massive word watashi just to say 'I' seems a little odd to someone who speaks English and has their whole life. Pat K.

I speak English and once you get used to it, it's not really hard. I think that Spanish is a hard language to learn.

I speak English and whenever I look at Chinese language I just don't understand the symbols. I would have to say that Chinese is the most difficult language.

    Re: Most difficult language

Hi my name is Melissa and I'm from Mexico and I speak English, French, Spanish, and I'm learning Chinese. In my opinion I think that Chinese is the most difficult language ever. I think it is hard because there is no alphabet and when you read there are only characters. I can't read any characters but I can read a little ping yin. Chinese is pretty cool but really really hard.

    Re: Most difficult language

I might say, that the most difficult language in the world might be Danish. As you know, there is only one way to say 'a', 'i', 'u' (and stuff like that) in Japanese, but in Danish, there might be more than one way to say 'a', 'e' and 'i'. There is too many ways, and not always rules, just 'do that sound right?' But I'm born in Denmark, and I just got the language from when I was born, so I can speak it. Right now I can talk Danish, English, and it's very easy to me to learn Japanese, so I cant talk a bit in that wonderful lanuage of Japanese. Here in Denmark, words don't always sounds like it looks.  Sorry if my English is bad. :)
