Hi my name is Seini! You are so right about people killing whales! People who do that to the whales are cruel and horrible to mammals or is it an animal?

    See ya later.

     From Seini in New Zealand.

    Re: Whaling

I wonder why so much hunting of whales? Do you eat them? Do you use the blubber? Do you hunt whales more than other fish?

I think that hunting is necessary for feeding people and that hunting and fishing can be good jobs for the fishermen and hunters. But, we cannot catch too much of one fish, or too much whales. We have to keep the balance of nature. We have to make sure that we don't make whales endangered animals. And, we have to make sure that hunting is for food. Remember when elephants were shot just to get the ivory from their tusks? That is very very wrong.

    That is what I think.

    Re: Whaling, Japan

    Think about whale hunting.
Recently, problem whaling is made much of by several countries.
Actually, forty three countries agree with whale hunting but some countries against hunting. There are many reasons why whale hunting is good or not. A supporter says we just catch whales according to a fixed number, do not catch them in excessive numbers.
Whale hunting is necessary to keep an ecological system. In addition, whaling is a link in food culture for some countries. We think which food culture should be respected for each other and also whaling is not an exception. On the other hand, an opponent says we should stop the whale hunting because whale is an endangered species. You must not such a cruel whaling. I feel sorry for the whale. Why you need whale this satiation times? Moreover, we think that it is not necessary to kill the whale for the ecology investigation and if that is a research, why kill you the whale so many number and catch them so many years? You should need an only one and only one time. Surely, whaling problem will be world frictional culture. I wonder what痴 behind this strange problem. What do you think which is the proper choice?

    Re: Whaling, Japan

Do you know whaling?? Now, Japan has a problem for whaling. Japan has done traditional whaling, but some people insist that whaling is bad action. It’s one of important international problems.  Japan says it is traditional act and culture of foods. Some countries say whales are smart, so whaling is very cruel and should stop to catch whales.  They think “we can spend our life without eating whales.  Why do they eat smart whales??”   Against this thinking, Most Japanese think, why are only whales special? Why do people eat dogs and cattle? It’s very strange. This problem seems to keep parallel.  Whales are eaten by people of narrow areas in Japan and they eat every part of a whale.  They don’t leave a part of whale.  One anti-whaling group is very radical.  For example, they flung a bottle entered acid into whaling ship.  It’s very danger of people’s life.  Some peoples said notion of anti-whaling is for whale watching.  Anti-group say whales are decreased by whaling.  Whaling is the destruction of nature and act of no humanity.  Cultures have no relationship in this problem. Each position’s people have each opinion for this problem.  What do you think about this problem??

Hello, my name is Maddie. I think whaling is very cruel because they're innocent creatures and they have never hurt anyone.  It is very sad to see such gentle creatures be killed.

I agree with you that whales have feelings too. I can't believe that people would want to kill whales for a job. If I did that, I would call myself a WHALE KILLER.

    Re: Whaling, Japan

Whaling might be controversial, are the reasearchers killing for food or for reasearch? but it isn't "cruel" its just regular hunting. The whalers have a limit of how much they can kill, which keeps the whales from extinction. Plus, there's Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd to make the whale count even lower, so right now it isn't that much of a problem.

I don't eat whales and I never will eat a whale. Why do people eat whales? I don't think that we need to eat whales! They are animals just like any other. I know we eat cows, pigs, and chickens, but I don't really think about it, I guess. I am not a vegetarian. Personally, I don't think we need to be killing all of these whales. They are part of our world too. We don't have as many whales as we have cows. I think it's sad to kill whales.

    Re: Whaling, Japan

I don't think whaling is right. Too much of it will lead to extinction and it will mess up the ecosystem. The whales are part of a chain and if one part is broken the whole thing is.I understand that people whale to make a living and everyone has a right to make a living. Whaling is not a necessity. Most people whale for the sperm oil of a whale(from what I read in books). I think all ways of killing animals are cruel EXCEPT when the animal is dying and you give it peace before it suffers.

    Re: Whaling, Japan

I read about people who are fighting to save the whales in Japan.  They think that commercial whaling should be illegal so they go out and risk their lives to fight against it.  I think they are very brave to put themselves at risk for something they believe in.

I agree with you both.  I think people need to change their consumption habits in order to save species that are either becoming extinct or threatened.  When one animal or plant becomes extinct, the whole ecosystem is thrown out of whack.

    Re: Whaling, Japan

It drives me insane that people abuse animals! People are so cruel. I have seen shows where the whales are being dissected into pieces alive. Imagine the excrutiating pain. Pretty soon there will be no more whales if we keep this up.
