Re: Vending machines - good or bad?

My school got rid of our snack machine. They also took our "normal" soda pop away. We are only allowed diet. Personally, I find it a mistake. It's gross. Anyway, we don't have a snack machine but one of our teachers does have a snack drawer. You can get things out of it for 50 cents. It does help with the fact we don't eat until noon. I don't eat breakfast so, by noon I'm starving. On average, I spend about 4$ a day on snacks. I wouldn't do so if the portions were larger. If we had a machine, I think I wouldn't spend as much. Even if I did I would get more for my money. I also saw someone say their lunch was 2.00$. Our school lunches are $1.75. They are not good! Milk is 25 cents. Things are going up in prices due to the gas prices. SNACK MACHINES ARE YUMMY AND WORTH IT!

I think it is ok to have vending machines in school. Many of my friends say how they wish they could have a snack around 7th period. Also it would give you something healthy to hold you over until you get home.

Hi my name is Amanda, the school that I attend is now debating rather to keep our vending machine or get rid of them. I agree that they have some unhealthy foods but our school lunch is $2.00, I think that is a little outrageous because we don’t get a lot so even I go to the vending machine often. I’m a pretty healthy person but sometimes I don’t have time to get breakfast or lunch so it’s good to be able to get something quick.

I think they are okay. They can have healthy snacks. They could be low fat, transfat free, and sugar free snacks.

Vending machines - good or bad?

The question is whether or not vending machines belong in schools? Personally, I am leaning to the belief that it is ok to have vending machines. I think that kids need to practice self control.  Vending machines also cause problems such as, people skipping lunch and eating junk food. What are some other opinions?
