Re: Information on Young Students and Computer Usage

    Hello Amanda,

I am a teacher in Sri Lanka. In school education we have three main IT tests for school students. These examinations are in grade 10 and 13. Normally the formal education for ICT starts in grade 10. But these education is for limited numer of students who are facing for that examinations.

On the facilities in schools ,each school follows different method to introduce ICT for student.Normally it starts from ms Paint and most of trainning based on MS Office.

Most of computers are p4 and in good condition as the facility is introduced in very recently to the education system. The facility is very limited. In most cases it is less than 20 computers for the school.

    Hello there.

I'm a school teacher from Nepal, land of Mt. Everest. I run a school in a rural area of Nepal. I wish our students could learn computer and other technology. Can you believe our students have no opportunity to touch a pc. We can see computers when we go to the town. The nearest town is 1 hour walk from our school area. I personally use a computer in town. I live in town and go to school everyday. Our schools do not have access to any technology. What fun it would be if our school children could use computers and have internet access.

from Govinda Panthy, SAV School, Nepal.

I teach technology literacy at a small school in central Wisconsin. My students begin at age 4 and learn to use the Internet to play math and literacy games. When the students are in first grade they learn to use Microsoft Word and Excel. If you would like more information please email me.

Information on Young Students and Computer Usage

I am writing from the United States and am interested in learning about different countries experiences with young students and their computer use. Specifically, at what age do students in your school/country start using the computer in school, and what type of computer use are they engaged in? Could you please also list the country you are discussing. Thanks, I look forward to the information. Amanda
