Re: What ethnicities make up your family?

Hello, I am a future teacher. Sounds very interested to know that in China there are so many ethnic groups. Can I ask you what are some differences in groups, food, values, rules...? I also wanted to know what is Han nationality?

    Thank you,

    Helena

Hello, I come from China.  I am a student.  In fact, all my family members are Chinese.  But there are some differences, you know in China there are 56 ethnic groups. I am Han nationality.

My family are part African. My grandad is black and his grandad was an African slave in Barbados. He came to Wales and got married after he was set free. I think that it does not matter what colour you are because we are all the same

I'm four ethnicities - Polish, German, French, and Irish. My mom is all Polish, so I'm half Polish. Really, I hardly know anything about my Polish heritage... Except for the fact that my mom's family immigrated here before World War Two. I got mostly German and French from my dad, and a bit of Irish from my grandmother, or Nana, as I call her. I'm a Christian, Catholic in specific, and my mom occasionally makes Polish dishes once in awhile. It's amazing I don't know any Polish dishes of my own, seeing as my mom's mother was a Polish chef. I wish I knew more about my heritage and family.

My family is Kalenjin which is a Nilotic group in East Africa. It has a lot of diversity and we celebrate the lives of some of our great leaders by visiting their graves and reminding ourselves of how they were an example to us.

My family is Irish and English.  I have some Irish things, like a clada necklace from my grandmother.  But mostly we don't talk about or celebrate our ethnicities.  I wish that we did a little more because I think celebrating your family heritage is cool.  My friend is half Japanese and they eat Japanese food sometimes and she has some Japanese clothes and dolls and stuff. They shop at the Japanese market in town too.  I think that makes her really interesting.

Me and my family -- we're kind of like mutts! We come from all sorts of countries. My  granparents are from France, Germany, Itally and Spain. My other grandparents are Irish, English and Native American. We don't celebrate any special holidays because we are just little bits of so many. But we do celebrate American holidays like the 4th of July. And I really love Mexican food, so I think that is one way I celebrate my great-grandma's heritage! I love guacamole and chips!
