    Re: Technology and Language Learning

    Salut Nicolas,

Je suis enseignant d'anglais qui travaille aux Etats-Unis (New York City). I teach English as a Second Language class at a High School in New York City. Most of my students are from the Dominican Republic. We use a lot of technology in our classroom to learn more about English grammar, vocabulary, and also to do research. Our school is a technology school so all teachers have computers, Smartboards, and projectors so we use some kind of technology each day. I'd like to know more about your use of technology you currently use in your classroom in Quebec (Montreal is one of my favorite cities by the way).

    Re: Technology and Language Learning

    Hello

My name is Amal.  I'm from the States and I teach English in Saudi Arabia.  I've tried with varying success to use computers when I could.  However, it wasn't always used to improve their language.   For example, I had students bring their laptops for a business writing course.  I used the projector and students worked on their laptops as I showed them useful functions in MS Word.  I have also used PPTs to show grammar points and other language skills. In the language lab we used Sanako which has voice recording capabilities as well as collaboration abilities for speaking activities.  We just have to be creative.

    Amal

    Technology and Language Learning

My name is Nicolas, I am studying to become an English second language teacher in Quebec, Canada.

I have classes at University that try to promote the use of technology when teaching a second language. I personally think that using computers to improve one's second lagnuage is a very effective method.

I would like to know if other teachers use technology in their classroom, why or why not.

If you do use technology in your classes, what kind of activity do you do?

    Thank you for your interest.

    Nicolas
