Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

I teach Spanish but I want my students to learn about cultures all over the world!  I would love it if you have students that need ePals.  We can work on other forms of allowing communication but I would like them to start with e-mail.

    Thanks,

    Rita Preuss

Hi!  I have two classes of Humanities 8 (English Language Arts and Social Studies together) and FOUR of these students have just finished a small research project on Belgium.  Would any of your students be interested in corresponding with these West Coast Canadian students?

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

We have just started the new school year and I'll introuduce the e-mail project the coming week. I'd like to work on the Way We Are project with 2 groups (one of 23 and one of 16), possibly 3. 2 of those study psychology and culture. Next week we start preparing the first e-mails or leaflets on our culture (probably group work on topics like education, religion, hobbies, food, family life, traditional values,...)

Are you still interested in working together? I'd like to end the search for partners and start working on it, so please let me know if this is okay for you and your students. Please contact me by e-mail driesket@epals.com

    Thanks!

    Dries, Belgium.

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

I teach ENGLISH/ Literature and Writing at Woodbury High School in New Jersey.  I can choose two of my 6 sections to work with your students. I teach College Prep. and Honors.

I think this would be a good experience for my honor students. I think I have about 38 in total. I can partner students up if you have more then 38.

We are working on Lord of the Flies, so we will be starting our class looking at the psychology of group/ mob mentality. Please let me know if you are interested in pairing up.

I also have two classes of Honors English, so this seems like a good match. I agree with you set-up (set up group work like presenting part of the pen-pals' culture or way of life, making leaflets or video presentations and individual writing tasks).

I think this would be a wonderful oppertunity for my students. I could start in mid- late September. We don't return to school until Septerm 8th, so I need some time to prepare for this project (getting students ready, booking the computer lab, etc.)

Please let me know if you are interested in working with us.

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

    Hi Dries:

I really need a partner for all 27 students. I have a match in France that can accomodate me. My class only runs for 1 semester. Perhaps we can partner in January.

    Let's keep in touch.

    Chris

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

    Hi Chris,

A sociology class seems like a good match for my students. I could 'link' your class to the biggest group I have here, but some of your students would still be left out (I do not yet know the exact number of pupils, but there will probably be about 22). Unless some of them can work together.

I'd like to have my students write about 3 e-mails and an additional writing and/or speaking assignment (e.g. a leaflet on our way of life or a presentation).

Let me know what you think.

    Dries

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

The number of students and their age seems fine, but I'd like my students to receive messages in English. Moreover we live in the Dutch speaking part of the country so French is not our mother tongue.

    Are you still interested then?

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

I will teach two classes of 15-18 year old teens (about 30 students) in French I and II.  These students are beginning French language learners from Kansas which is in the center of the U.S.  We are looking to learn about people from various French speaking countries and to practice our language use.  I have just joined ePals today and am excited about the possibilities of connecting with other classrooms around the world.

    Hi Dries:

I would be very interested in working with your students.  I have a Sociology class of 27 students, ages 16-18. We will begin school in September. I have had a partner school (Ireland and France) for the last 2 semesters. Perhaps we can arrange a videoconference. Please let me know if your are interested.

    Thanks,

    Chris Kersting

Re: Looking for contacts for Belgian students

    Hi there,

I am looking for a European connection in Europe for my students.  I have about 50 sudents that are between the ages of 11 and 15.  Does that work for you?  I teach in a middle school and would love for my kids to learn about culture, lifestyle and geography of your area.

    Thanks, Mary Sue Claborne

Looking for contacts for Belgian students

I will teach 2 classes of 15-16 year old teens (about 38-44 students) starting in September. They're all studying culture and psychology so the TWWA project seems perfect for them. I'd like to set up group work like presenting part of the pen-pals' culture or way of life, making leaflets or video presentations and individual writing tasks (e-mails). Are you interested in corresponding with teens in the heart of Europe?

    Let me know!

    Dries, Belgium (Antwerp)
