My name is Joli Brock.  I am a 2nd grade teacher in McKinney, TX looking to do a year-long collaborative project with various classes from around the world.  I would like to have at least one class per continent, but the more the merrier.  I am looking to do the following projects next school year and would like to begin the dialogue with you now and begin to plan so that when the new school year begins, we will be ready to begin shortly after Day 1.

Here are the projects:

1.  Books Around the World:  A sharing of books from around the world where each class in the project will select a favorite book to share with the rest of the classes in the project.  Everyone reads the same book and the kids blog or journal with each other about what they read. 

2.  Digital Storytelling:  Students will work with their global friends through the writing process and share both through journaling and blogs, but also through skyping or videos their published pieces.

3.  The Way We Are:  A sharing of ideas and information about each class in the project.  Local traditions, celebrations, beliefs, activities, habitats, cultures, history etc, will be shares through a variety of digital media.

4.  Math:  Writing and sharing word problems and video-chatting lessons in a globally cooperative learning situation.

I am not sure if the main post is active either.  : )    I would be interested in starting something involving book clubs.   Do you have specific ideas about what you would like to do?   I have 19 students, but may get another student on Monday.   Let's talk specifics.   : )
