Hi I live in England .The Forests ( woodlands )  near me are very small because our woodland is most streets. Although there are not many woodlands we have lots of insects. It is very interesting to look at different bugs and insects so we can learn different things about them.

Hi my name is Mohamed. Where I live the trees grow leaves in summer because, the leaves eat sunlight but, when its winter the leaves fall of because, the leaves have no sunlight to eat.

Hi, I’m from England and the habitats around our school are a bit rocky. We have woodlands around us, but mainly towns. They are lots of different creatures around me but none of the animals are dangerous and they are very small. We have animals such as: ants, bees, lots of flies, slugs, snails, grasshoppers, wasps, spiders and loads more! What creatures and habitats live near you?

Re: Forests: What Kind Are Near Your Home?

My name is Michaela. I'm from the midwest, USA (Nebraska) The kinds of forests we have in my state are deciduous. Deciduous forests change throughout the year. In the spring, the twigs on the trees grow tiny little buds. Then, as spring turns to summer, the leaves turn bright green. Later, in autumn, the leaves change color to reds, browns, yellows, and oranges. When the days get colder, the trees shed their leaves to go into dormancy during winter. Then the cycle continues as spring comes, then summer, then autumn, then winter again.

    Hi.

My name is Amanda and I live in the China. Please forgive me for my bad english first.

I am very glad to tell you the forests in my hometown. It belongs to deciduous forests. In spring, all trees become green with full eyes, if you have not see them by youself, you can't know how beautiful they are. In autumn, leaves dance with wind happily.

Above all ,there is a bamboo grove behind my house. It brings me and my friends a happy childhood. I'm glad to reduce it to everybody I know.

    bye Alec,and best wishes!

Re: Forests: What Kind Are Near Your Home? USA

    Hi Alec.

My name is Grace and I live in the midwest (USA).  We are a prairie habitat so we don't have a lot of trees but the forests we do have are deciduous.  All of the leaves are falling off the trees now.

I'm doing a project about trees right now.  Did you know that deforestation puts 20% of the words pollution in the air which is more than the worlds cars, trucks and airplanes combined.  When you plant trees it takes CO2 out of the air and puts oxygen back in the air.  It is important to not only plant trees but conserve the trees we already have.

    bye Alec.

Forests: What kind are near your home?

    Hi.

My name is Alec and I live in the USA. I am studying forests for school and want to know what kind of forests are near where you live? There are 3 major kinds of forests:

tropical -- like rainforests, in wet and warm places

deciduous forests - leaves fall off trees, turn with seasons

taiga forests - mostly coniferous trees, lots of evergreens.

I live in the northern US and the forests by me are taiga -- lots of tall evergreen trees. The forests stay green even in the winter. They smell like christmas trees and the ground is covered with pine needles, not with leaves.

    What about where you live?

    Thanks!

    Alec, USA
