Have you found an ePal group yet? I have 18 4th graders who would love to communicate with your students on a weekly basis. Let me know if you are still interested.

Hi, I am right there with you, I try and try every year and cannot get a consistent connection with anyone. We are a small group of Gifted Elementary students in South Central Kansas, Newton, Kansas, that is seaking a group to correspond on a continuous basis. If you are interested please let me know and we can send emails monthly or bi-monthly. These students are all on IEP's and have independent projects to work on. Please let me know

    Thank you

Re: Please help! 4th grade needs ePals!

    HI,

I am currently teaching at an English language school in Taiwan, (Taipei) and I have a group of 10 students ages from 8/9-13/14 and I think it would be so interesting if kids from different countries could exchange and write letters to each other and understand more.

I see that you have around 25 children, if I can ask the other classe to join this activity, do you think we can assign each child with a penpal and write mails to each other? Like a proper mail because the parents don't really like the computer because bad for their eyes and all.

Please let me know soon if you are interested

    Thanks

    Christine

Hi.  My name is Kim Mangini and I am new to ePals.  At our school we are completing Techsteps and the first project is finding ePals and communicating throughout the school year.  Our school is in Hamden, CT.  We have 25 students.  It is a fourth grade classroom.  Please get back to me as soon as possible to see if this will work out.

    Thank you,

    Kim Mangini

    Dear Susan,

This is also our first time using ePals and we are trying to get started with global communication and collaboration partners.  We are excited about this and cannot wait to hear from you.

Our class is an ITEC classroom.  Each one of us have our own personal computer and are learning more and more about the use of technology everyday.  We are currently working on a weather unit and will begin our next study on astronomy.  Please tell us a little about you and what you are currently studying.

We are located in Columbia, South Carolina.

Re: Please help! 4th grade needs ePals!

Hello. I am a teacher of English to 9 students in Russia, they are all aged from 8 to 9 and one is 13. We would be happy to correspond to your students, and I do hope it shall be on a constant basis. Some of my students have prepared letters with photoes, I shall send them to you, or, if there is any other way to arrange things, please let me know. I have just found this site, and I don't know much yet how it operates, but I surelly shall make it out.

We live in a village in Moscow region, I "coach" group of students who want to learn English in addition to classes at school. Correspondence is extremely important for them, as they don't have much opportunity to contact any foreigners personally, and English is just a school subject for them. It would be great to get personal contacts for our students on both sides, and may be get to know each other's culture. It is a whole new world.

    Susan,

We have not tried ePals yet- but I am willing to try.  I'm sure I could find someone for you. Are you still interested?

We are not global but instead a classroom in Texas.  I would love for my students to have pen pals but we would like someone that is consistent as well.  Would you like to let our students correspond or would you rather have a global connection?  Just let me know.  Thank you very much!

Re: Please help! 4th grade needs ePals!

Good evening. I'm currently teaching world cultures/social studies to 6th grade students located in Texas. I'm still waiting for district approval if and when I receive the approval to establish email. In any event, if I can't, my classes can still participate via traditional mail or if you would like, we can email each other as a class. Email if you are interested.

    Hello, Susan

I am from Russia. I teach English in classes from 2 to 11 ( ages 8- 17 ) I would like to help you but I am afraid you wouldn't choose my students because their knowlendge of English is rather poor. Of course they can write to some topics and I will help them. But I think it would be possible for us to contact to you only two times a week and it will be just a letter prepared by the whole class about climate, nature, native habits of Russian people or something like that.

If you are interested let me know.

    Have a good day.

    Hi Nili-

I responded via email. I think this sounds like a great opportunity! Do your students study the geography of Massachusetts? (I was actually born in Wareham, so I'm a little familiar with the territory :) ) We study the different regions of California-it might be kind of fun to compare notes. Also we study the native tribes of California, it might be interesting to compare/contrast the native tribes of Massachusetts?! Just some ideas, let me know what you think.

    Looking forward to getting started!

Re: Please help! 4th grade needs ePals!

    Dear Susan,

I'm an English as a Foreign Language teacher in 5th grade in Berlin, Germany. My students have been learning English for 2 years now; however, they need some motivation to progress in their language skills. I am looking for an American class who would like to start an email project. Considering the limited language skills of my students, I would prefer a 4th grade to participate in the project, but a 5th grade would be fine as well. I would like to start in mid-November. The major focus is set on exchanging information about the students and the celebration of Christmas and the holiday season. Our focus will be set on Christmas because Christmas is a public holiday in Germany; however, there are also students with a Muslim background in my class. It would be interesting for my students to also learn about students with other denominations. It would be great if we could exchange emails on a bi-weekly basis going until the end of the holiday season. If we feel that things are going smoothly, the continuation of the project is open for discussion!

    Thank you very much!
    Warm regards,
    Sonja Mihailovic
