Re: UK family, mum and daughter wanting ePals!

    Hello, Floriane,

I was wondering if Deborah has found an ePal/pen pal yet or if she has room for one more? My daighter, Maria Elise, would be interested in writing through the regular post. She will only start to begin lessons in French in January. Kindly contact me through lcamposmoya@epals.com if you or Deborah are interested and I will forward Maria Elise's email and details of our land address.

    Best wishes,

    Leila

Re: UK family, mum and daughter wanting ePals!

    Hi, Laura,

If your daughter, Isabella, is interested in an ePal or pen pal (regular post), my daughter, Maria Elise, who is also 8y old is looking for someone to correspond with. It must be the age.. like Isabella, Maria Elise is very concerned about the environment. We often discuss how our family makes an impact on our little bit of sod as to our global communities. Because we live among farmland and are quite close to rivers and oceans, it is easy to make a point. Maria Elise is quite aware of recycling and less packaging, the benefits of our home garden and welcoming bees to our small field.

We moved from Chicago to Ireland two years ago. I have to say, I am glad and relieved that she and her 13y brother have adjusted quite well to the changes and culture and it has been easy for them to make many good friends. We do fly back home twice a year. My kids are developing a good understanding of diversity. Maria Elise loves to read (Oscar Wilde, Roddy Doyle and A.A. Milne); loves art (Picasso and Kandisky, in particular); has a broad palate and is a very conscientious as she learns her way in bringing recipes to life. I am a chef, you see. I do keep my fingers crossed that she will be able to manage her way in the kitchen but take interest in something much more noble like being a scientist or teacher. Thank goodness, she loves math and science.

She had an aunt, who God bless her died the year we moved, was in a wheelchair since she was 9y old. To Maria Elise, this showed her that people in any position were about the same. Her aunt loved her so much and that was the most important thing. She also showed her that despite her physical handicaps, there was so much she could do.. like the fact that she did give birth to two beautiful children and was really the best of moms.. and that her disability did not hold her back in helping others in her very same condition. She was paralysed from mostly the waist down with limited movements in her arns. But, boy, could she talk! She was the Volunteer Coordinator of Canine Companions in Illinois for many years. I apologise for being so personal. I feel for your son but my heart goes out to you as a mom. You sound very strong and I'm sure that Benjamin will have great support in his confidence and talents. Best wishes to you and your family.

So, Maria Elise, and, you'd like to write as well.. her email is mariael7998@epals.com. My own is lcamposmoya@eplas.com. Maria would really like to send things by post, did I say that?

We hope to hear from you,

    Leila

Re: UK family, mum and daughter wanting ePals!

    Hi Karen,

My name is Cynthia and I have 2 children too, a 9 yr old boy and a 10 mo old girl (although I doubt she'll contribute much to the conversation) :-). My husband's name is Jason and we home school our son and plan to do the same with our daughter. Although Niamh is younger than Jaedon, she and he seem to have a lot of things in common. Jaedon is very creative, and loves making jewelry, pottery, cooking, painting ceramics and photography. He also is quite passionate about environmental issues and just finished a science project about biofuels.

We are not at all an outdoorsy kind of family. I have friends that are, and they keep trying to convince me that hiking and camping are wonderful things to do, but I question their sanity. ;-) I just live vicariously through their adventures.

I'm a writer and I totally relate to the kids keeping you from your "grown up" pursuits. I've been working on my first novel for almost 3 years now, and I've barely made a dent. A whole lot of living happened in that 3 years, the best of which was the birth of my wonderful daughter. I used to really love reading -- anything and everything -- but now I only read what I can when I can.

We'd love to have people to chat with!!

    Cheers,

    Cynthia and Jaedon

Re: UK family, mum and daughter wanting ePals!

    Hellow Karen!

My name is Olga. I'm from Russia and I have one son Stepan. He's 14. I'm looking for a friend in an English speaking country especially UK with whom I could talk and have identical interests. I'm a teacher of English in a small town and I don't have much opportunity to practice English with native speakers. I like English. It's my work and hobby. I like reading too but I don't think I'm a good writer. You can see it from my letter.  Write me if you are interested. My e-mail olgaizyurova@epals.com.

    Bye, Olga.

    Hi Laura

    Thanks for your reply

We'd love to swap e-mails and get to know you and your family. I have tried to send you a more 'detailed' e-mail but I seem to be having problems with my ePals address. I'll keep trying to send it though!  : D

So, I'll hopefully talk to you soon! LOL

Re: UK family, mum and daughter wanting ePals!

    Hi Karen,

I am the homeschooling mom of 6 kids - 15, 14, 8, 5, 4, and 3.  My 8 y.o. daughter, Isabella, is very big into saving the planet also.  Global warming is a passion of hers along with the helping rid the world of the maltreatment of animals.  My 4 y.o., Benjamin, can't read or write yet, but I can read to him and write what he dictates.  He's in a wheelchair a lot of the time so face to face meeting and play with other kids his age can be very hard.  I'm wondering if they could be ePals too so that Ben can have an online friend where his physical limitations don't come into play.

I too am an avid reader.  I read so much and passed my love of reading onto the kids that my husband says our house looks like a library.  I also love to cook and bake.  My daughter has numerous food allergies and has reactive hypoglycemia so everything has to be organic and made from scratch.

My ePals account is dustydon@epals.com.  I hope to hear from you.

    Laura

UK family, mum and daughter wanting ePals!

    Hi everyone!

I'm Karen, married to Stephen and we home educate our 2 children, Niamh, 6, and Patrick, 4 and we're in beautiful historic Lincoln in the UK.

Niamh actually came up with the idea of writing to other children all over the world because she's feeling all grown up about setting up her very own e-mail address! LOL  And I think it's a great idea too, it's been many years since I've had a pen pal and it would be nice to have one again.

We're an outdoor kind of family, we love nature, hiking, camping and all that! Reading and art are the big things in the Brennan household at the moment, and then there's also sports, the whole family pretty much loves almost every sport there is!

Niamh's also really into all things environmental and saving the planet, rainforests, oceans... the list is endless really!!!! LOL   She's also just started attending a pottery class, something else she's very excited about and chatters non stop about it!

As for me, apart from the outdoor things, I love cooking, especially baking, sewing, knitting, I'm always trying new homely crafts, I just like to 'have a go' at most things!

One of my main passions is reading, I will read practically anything! And I love art, I'm a trained illustrator and studied art history, though the children keep me so busy I don't get that much time to indulge in 'grown up' art.

    Anyway, that' us!  : D

Here's hoping to hear from some of you soon!

    All the best

    Karen and family   xxxxx
