Re: What does your community do to recycle?

I do live in the country, but in Los Angeles County. Our trash company used to pick up recycling, but then they stopped. My parents have to drive the recycling to various places.

Do you live out in the country?  Or in a city area?  We have trucks that come by and pick up recycling.

    Hi,

We use bins to recycle which are picked up once a week by the county garbage men.  We also have a compost pile.

Many people in our town don't recycle either! We try, but it's hard when there aren't very many places to drop off recycling.

My family tries to help our town by recycling but not many people do in Michigan. I think they should!

In my town you can recycle cans and bottles curbside with your trash every week.  My dad takes our cardboard and newspapers to the recycling center.  We donate our old tennis shoes to the running store in town that recycles them.  We take our clothes that we grow out of to a charity.  We also have a yard waste recycle center in our town--they chip up Christmas trees and other branches to make mulch that you can use.  I know that they pick up the fall leaves too and I think they chop them into mulch and stuff you can add to your garden soil.

Anything that you can keep out of a landfill is a good idea, I think.  Because eventually we're going to run out of space, you know?

In Maine, we have large green and blue tote things.

The Blue one is for trash and the Green for recycle.

I do recycle because I like to think we are helping the world.

I know its not exactly going to help global warming but maybe we can lessen everything that is filling the landfills. =]

    My opinion.

    Thanks, Shay.

Re: What does your community do to recycle?

In Rhode Island, we have green bins for paper recycling and blue bins for plastic bottles and for glass items.  But, I don’t' recycle and I really don’t care, or even worry about recycling. There are other things to worry about in life than RECYLCING. That's my point of view.

What does your community do to recycle?

I'm from Florida and we have the orange and green buckets.  Does any use trash compacting or another method of recycling?
