No, I don't have a real father. My dad and mom got divorced when I was four years old because he was abusive towards my mom and family. After about 12 years of not knowing my dad or two older half brothers I finally got a hold of them through the internet. It has been over a year now that I've been in touch them with them and I regret it. My brothers are just who I thought they would be but my dad hasn't changed since the last time I remember being around him. He still doesn't pay child support and doesn't help my mom out with anything.  He says he cares about me and my little brother but I don't believe it because he doesn't show it. When he talks to me he cusses and everything else. He is not the person I have always thought he would be but at least I can stop wondering now and just face the truth.

My dad loves me. He always has. That doesn't mean I don't have issues with him. He's very involved in his work, and I rarely see him. Sometimes I feel like he likes being there then with me. So to answer your question, yes I do have a dad that loves me and cares about me...but it doesn't mean I feel it.

No, my dad ran off right after he saw me when I was a newborn. His leaving me I thought hadn't effected me at all until I came to high school. Now I realize that I can't stand to be touched by boys in a flirty way. I have guy friends, but they have learned not to touch me at all.

There are actually a lot of people out there without fathers for many different reasons. My father stopped coming around when I was about 12. Before then we were the best of friends. He met another woman with kids of her own and started spending time with them more than me. It hurt a lot especially being the age I was. I'm now 18 and my father to this day has yet to be involved. He calls... on holidays. Up until I turned 18 he never really called, but turns out the reason he calls now is to encourage me to finish school so he can stop paying child support. I'm just so thankful I have a completely supportive mother and step father. They are my family and they mean the world to me. I had a son about 3 months ago and my real father has seen him once. It is hard not having him there and it did effect me for a long time. Eventually I moved on and I am in such a happy place. I realized that I have a great life and if he does not want to be involved in that , it is not my fault and he is missing out.

Many poeple don't have real dads that love them but they have step dads that do. That isn't a bad thing. Who cares if it's your real dad a step dad or someone else. That is so dumb only thinking that real dads can love you. I mean some people have real dads that don't ever want to be around them. I have a real dad that loves me very much and I have a step dad that loves me too. So it shouldn't matter whether it's a real dad or step dad.
