Re: School from India looking for partner schools to share festivals

    Dear Anju,

Every year in Turkey, on April 23rd, we celebrate one of the most important national events, which is the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.  In 1920, the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, established the Grand National Assembly and dedicated this special occasion to children, who are the future of the nation.  To mark the occasion of this event, the children all around the world are invited to Turkey to celebrate this day with their traditional performances based on dance, music, art, sports, and theatre.

As Doğa Schools, every year we host students and teachers from all around the world.  Guest students will stay with Doğa Schools’ students & families and they get the chance to experience this special event with their peers.  The students attending this special event are required to prepare a traditional dance with their special costumes for indoor and outdoor celebrations, and choir or a theatre play for international exchanges during their stay.  In other words, each school must have a traditional dance performance and plus a choir or a theatre play.

The festival will be held between 19th and 26th April, 2012, and you arecordially invited by Doğa Schools, İstanbul, Turkey, to join us for the celebrations of April 23rd, National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.  As the Head of the English Department, it is my pleasure to extend to you this invitation.  Throughout this 7 days’ children festival, we will be glad to host your students and teachers in which we will have the opportunity to share experiences and ideas for future projects in an international atmosphere, discover the beautiful surroundings of Istanbul, and remember the importance of both being independent and living in peace, as well as brotherhood and friendship.  We look forward to welcoming you to our school and country.  My e mail address hsntrn@epals.com

Re: School from India looking for partner schools to share festivals

    Hi,

My name is Cindy Pridgen. I am a High School Business Education Teacher in North Carolina, USA. I teach students age 14-18. We are in a rural town and our students know very little about other cultures outside of the U.S. I'd love to give them an opportunity to correspond with your students to learn about your economic system and the lifestyle of your students as compared to our students here in the U.S.  Our semester ends around the first week of January, so I know it's short notice, but any communication we could establish would be greatly appreciated.  I look forward to hearing from you.  My email is cpridgen@epals.com.

    Hi, Anju,

I am a music teacher from Massachusetts, however, I have computers in my classroom and we are doing a multi-cultural study on celebrations around the world.  I would like to have some of my 4th and 5th grade kids contact your kids.  Not only that, I would like to Skype with you and have my kids sing some songs from our celebrations here.  You can also email me at kathlholton@epals.com.

    Thanks,

    Kathy Holton

    Music Director
