Hi Bill,
I'm a teacher from (and in) Hamburg, Germany. I've got a year 8, i.e. the students are 13 or 14 years old. I'm interested in the "way we are" project with a class in the US, but this would be a first for me and I don't know if we'll be able to write 3 or 4 times a month, let alone set up video conferences (due to the configuration of our technical equipment: I don't know if Skype is on our computers, if we have headsets for all students and if the bandwidth would allow 25 parallel video conferences to still run smoothly).
Apart from that I had understood that the project included only four e-mails, so I need some extra information on what you had in mind contentwise.
If all this sounds very hesitant: it's not. I've just seen e-mail-projects not working because of technical problems in the schools or non-availability of the computers (and not on our side), and it was always very disappointing for the students, who had hoped for more, and stressful for the teachers, who were unsuccessfully trying to make the impossible possible, and I wouldn't want to repeat that experience but rather settle for less in the beginning but then do as planned. Might be more rewarding, and one could still aim higher for the next project.
So I hope I haven't put you off and you are still willing to do the project (as your entry dates from two months ago).
All the best,
Sabine
