Adina Popa’s experience as an educator spans across several fields. She taught English to high school students, music to K-2 students, math and language arts to fifth grade students, and technology integration to teachers and staff. Her teaching career has also taken her to two countries and three states - Romania and USA, and Ohio, Florida and Virginia. Popa’s experience allowed her to understand the needs of students from different cultures and grade levels. She started using ePals in 2001 when her students showed a weak interest in writing. Looking for motivating activities, she read case studies in which ePals was described as an exchange tool, allowing students to collaborate and exchange ideas. The success of integrating ePals in her Language Arts curriculum was so significant that she now uses ePals in almost all her classroom activities. As a teacher and staff developer, she promotes ePals for literature circles, letter writing, geography studies, problem solving, translation, and lately, videoconferencing. Students from her school collaborate with children from around the world on projects through ePals and live meetings.
