The ePALS Book Club presents...
Literature In The Classroom!
Expanding your teaching horizons, one book at a time.
All teachers use literature in the classroom, whether it's fiction or fantasy, poetry or science fiction.
| How do I use ePALS Online Book Club? |
All of our discussions can be accessed from school or from home!
» Teachers can share ideas and resources with other teachers in a discussion board about Literature In The Classroom.
» Students can submit their comments, questions, book reports, reviews and personal favorites to the ePALS' Online Book Club.
» Participate with a partner class by following these directions:
|
1. Go to your profile. Update your information to include the words "book club" in your description.
| |
2. Do a search for partner classrooms by clicking on the preceding link. You have now generated a list of classrooms interested in discussing books.
|
3. Contact some of these teachers to see if any of them are available for a partnership. Please refer to our Teacher to Teacher Guide for more information, but in your initial email include:
- when you would like to start and finish this exchange and how often you'd like your students to be emailing each other.
- which book(s) you'd like to discuss and whether you want discussions to be about chapters, plots, authors, during the reading or upon completion of the reading.
|
4. Book Discussions can include:
- A book that your students have already read,
- A book that everyone wants to read,
- A book that is part of your curriculum,
- A book that represents an author from another country, leading to discussions about popular culture and national literature.
- A set of questions about a book, including a "trivia" quiz.
- Research about an author, their career, country of origin and travel.
- Have students in partnered classrooms write a book review collaboratively and post this on our Discussion Board for the world to read!
