Make your voice heard! Become a published author on a topic of truly global importance.

National Geographic Children’s Books is publishing an ePals book called Every Human Has Rights, a compilation of student thoughts and poetry on human rights to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights.

To participate, teachers should direct students to:
  1. Read the List of Human Rights (kids’ version) and watch an optional video about Human Rights. The original United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights can be found here.
  2. Choose one or more of the 10 human rights on the list and write short thoughts or poems about them. (See examples.)
  3. Submit entries by July 7, 2008, to Human Rights Book Contest, ePals, 13625-A Dulles Technology Drive, Herndon, VA 20171. Include signed parental releases. (Print release.)
  4. Chosen authors for Every Human Has Rights will be contacted in Fall, 2008. Chosen authors, their teachers, and schools will be announced on the ePals website and credited in Every Human Has Rights, and each published author will receive a free copy of the book.
